About the event
Curious about Tai Chi? This free beginner series is a welcoming place to start—or continue—your practice.
This session is for anyone intrigued to step into Tai Chi. Tai Chi is a gentle, mindful movement practice that combines slow, coordinated movements, breathing, and focused attention. It suits a wide range of abilities and can be practiced seated as well as standing. No prior experience is required!
In this class, we will explore the movements of the form BaFa WuBu ("Eight Methods, Five Steps"), practicing both standing and seated. In China, BaFa WuBu is now taught as a standard beginner form. It includes quintessential Tai Chi movements while introducing the core principles of the practice.
Research has found that regular Tai Chi practice can improve balance, stability, mobility, and overall physical function, and may reduce the risk of falls, particularly as we age. Studies also suggest benefits for mood, and quality of life.
